Once a year, during the Big Game, I sit back and watch this television event and watch the commercials.  I was entertained by all the clever Doritos and Coke advertisements along with all the other corporations dropping $3.01 million for just 30 seconds. Plenty others made me laugh or sigh from the cuteness. One in particular stood out an ad from Google entitled “Parisian Love.”

This advertisement really tugged on my heart string telling the story of a guy who finds true love through search queries. This first query is “study abroad paris france” and then a young man’s journey in finding true love begins. He then searches for “cafes near the louvre” and meets a girl that says “tu es tres mignon” or “You’re very cute” in French. The story continues with him heading back to America but keeping the relationship alive and eventually searching for “churches in paris” and then finally “how to assemble a crib.” A wonderful story told through the Google search box and text.

I can not recall another commercial in recent history that made me say to myself after it was over, “wow that was just amazing.” I think this commercial not only tells a great story but it says something bigger about Google as a whole. Google cares about the people it serves and even though it may seem stark, cold and bland with its all white background, Google gets the job done. I use Google everyday and I am glad that they are out in the market place and delivering some of the top web services the world has ever seen. Thank you Google, thank you.
