LIFE Club Brings Thanksgiving To Needy Families

Leading Independent Females to Empowerment (LIFE) club raised eight truckloads of food and 700 dollars in gift cards this year in their second annual participation in the Thanksgiving Basket Drive. They challenged various other clubs to band together and provide food for local families through Living Word Outreach.

“I was very impressed with what we collected,” LIFE club sponsor Rena Long said “You should have seen the lady’s eyes when we gave her 700 dollars worth of gift cards. She told my students they were a true blessing.”

Although the deadline was Wednesday, Ms. Long still receives donations from individuals who want to contribute to the cause. At this point, they’ve surpassed last year’s collection by a “considerable” margin, feeding countless more families.

According to Ms. Long they hope to soon extend their outreach globally with a possible project to assist women in Africa.
