In our time there have been Action, Adventure, Comedies, Blockbusters, Chick Flicks, Tearjerkers, Romances, Dramas, and B-Movies. Some have lead to the disappointment of mankind, but some have earned their place in the hearts and minds of viewers.

Reign of Fire-  A movie released in 2002 about our dear planet earth being overrun by fire breathing dragons, enough said. It may seem like just a guy movie, but the ladies might enjoy Christian Bale, Matthew McConaughey, and a young Gerard Butler. The movie contains some intense battle scenes filled with balls of fire, ground combat with a dragon, as well as an air battle too, and some pretty awesome weaponry.

Epic Quote: “Envy the country that has heroes, huh? I say pity the country that needs them”

The Dark Knight- is the best batman movie to date.( Released in 2008) With an all star cast, including recently deceased Heath Ledger. This movie has great action and definetly great suspense. The Joker is the truly best part of this movie and he is seen as vicious and dangerous. With the new look, he makes this movie so much cooler.

Epic Quote- “ Why so serious?”

Good Will Hunting- A drama making its debut in 1997 starring Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Robin Williams. The movie is a drama, like said above, and is very serious throughout most of the movie. Some scenes are funny and are meant to be that way as comedic relief. The language is very strong, but the background of the characters really explain why they say the things they do. Along with being a drama, the story is a bit of a romance, but both genders can find a way to relate, which adds to a movie of extreme thought.

Quote to Laugh: Will “Do you like apples?”
Clark “Yeah.”
Will “Well, I got her number. How do you like them apples?”

The Boondock Saints- released in 1999 not many people are aware of this movies existence. Well get off the couch and go see it. It’s about two angry Irish men, that alone should make you want to watch it. Pretty much two guys start killing people in the mob then decide to kill every one evil, and its a pretty good idea. It’s funny and full of action, a perfect “man” movie.

Epic Quote- “ And shepards we shall be for thee my lord for thee”

V for Vendetta- A 2006 release based on the graphic novel and comic books by Alan Moore. It focuses on a totalitarian United Kingdom, completely ruled by fear. One masked hero known only by the letter V, and a true believer in the events of November the fifth, goes around blowing up the buildings of England and rallying the citizens to stand beside him as he plots the downfall of the government on November 5. Starring Hugo Weaving and Natalie Portman, this is one movie everyone needs to watch.

Most Memorable Quote: “People should not be afraid of their governments; governments should be afraid of their people.”

Law Abiding Citizen- released in 2009 staring Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx this movie is just awesome. In this movie Gerard Butler kills every one who didn’t throw his wife and daughters murderer in prison, and the best part he kills people from his jail cell. If you want to find out how go watch it.

Epic Quote- “ I will bring the whole system down”

Shooter- This action movie released in 2007, is very well described by the name. Bob Lee Swagger is an ex-military sniper hired for a job that went bad, and he was framed and hunted down by the police and military, as he tried to find out who set him up. The movie is filled with intense action scenes involving modern day weaponry, and really amazing sniper shots. This is a film for all action movie fans, starring Mark Wahlberg and Michael Pena.

Epic Quote:  “There’s always a confused soul that thinks that one man can make a difference. And you have to kill him to convince him otherwise. That’s the hassle with democracy.”

300- released in 2006 this movie was beautiful. Showing one of the most outstanding battles in history, it truly is amazing. Starring Gerard Butler as King Leonidus. The battle of three hundred Spartans against more than five hundred thousand Persian soldiers is perfectly depicted. This movie is a must see.

Epic Quote- “ Prepare for glory!”

District 9- A magnificent action film released in 2009 from the mind of Peter Jackson. It contains all sorts of action packed scenes involving aliens, their weaponry, and government forces in South Africa. The movie is filmed like a Documentary and is supposed to look like a reenactment of Wikus Van De Merwe and his encounters with the alien species known as Prawns by the locals. The movie has the action, bloody violence, and an intense, seat-gripping, story that people will find themselves dying to watch.

Quote to Remember:  “When dealing with the aliens, try to be polite, but firm. And always
remember a smile is cheaper than a bullet.”

Gladiator- released in 2000 this is my favorite movie of all time. Russell Crowe does an amazing job as lead role Maximus. Giving a insight into Rome’s deep and violent past this movie shows you Rome for the dark place it was. Drama, romance, action and suspense this movie has it all, it will make you want to watch it every day. Oh, and the ending made me Travis St. John drop to my knees and cry, I have no shame in saying that.

Most Epic Quote of All Time- “ Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife, and I will have my vengeance in this life or the next.”
