Legacy Lookbook: Kelsey Scott

Theater teacher Kelsey Scott mixes simple yet stylish pieces to create a cohesive look for a typical day of teaching students. Scott elevates a casual every-day outfit with her addition of a glamorous necklace and an elegant half-up, half-down hair style. She keeps the colors simple which makes her look naturally cool and sophisticated. Scott proves that being a teacher does not have to mean sacrificing your personal style.

Can you describe your outfit and where everything is from?
“My jeans and my vest are from Target, my shoes are from Clark’s, my shirt and my necklace are from J.Crew. That is what I wear all the time, chambray and green.”

How would you describe your style?
“Classic and minimalistic, I do the capsule wardrobe so like 30 pieces of clothing and I just mix and match them.”

Where do you get fashion inspiration from?
“I really like the blog Un-Fancy, and I look at Pinterest all of the time, I mostly just wear whatever I want.”

What are your favorite trends at the moment?
“I really like tights and long shirts, because it’s comfortable, and I really like top knots because they’re super easy and keep my hair out of my face”

Do you have any fashion advice?
“I think that you should wear whatever you like and whatever flatters your body, and don’t worry about what’s cool, just wear whatever you want.”

If you could raid anyone’s closet, who would it be and why?
“Carolyn from the Un-Fancy blog, she has the most amazing leather vest and really nice shoes and she looks cool.”

Where do you like to shop?
“I shop a lot at Free People, Madewell and a lot of Target and Old Navy.”

What do you like to do when you are not teaching or directing?
“I spend a lot of time with my dog, Pete, and we like to go rock climbing or golfing, things like that.”

What is your favorite style era?
“Definitely the ‘60s, because there was a lot of mascara and lashes and big hair, and those are all things I love.”

Stores or brands that you wish you could shop at?
“I really want a Chloe bag, but that’s not gonna happen.”

Hi I'm Becca! I love Tex Mex and my dog above all else. I'm a senior this year and I really really really want to go to UT Austin but if I don't get in pretend like I didn't say that. I procrastinate everything and I'm still super pale. I hope you enjoy the stories I write this year!
