Review: Making a Murderer

Review: Making a Murderer

Lately, the Netflix industry has been booming with new hit series, but the most recent set of episodes, Making a Murderer, stole the show. With the intense storyline of Steven Avery’s life, giving detail into the work of lawyers and allowing the people to take a look into how the court system works, this show came at a perfect time in today’s society.

This one season of 10 episodes gives society the ability to act as a juror on the Steven Avery case. Although our opinions won’t change anything for this man’s life, it lets people look at the evidence, hear the testimonies and interpret background information from their own point of view. Is Avery innocent, or did he actually commit the crime?

The series gives viewers an insight to how the judicial system works, ranging from the actual court case to the pleas for innocence after being convicted. We also get a view on how the jurors get influenced during the testimonies and evidence shown during the actual court hearings.

I highly suggest watching this series because it shined a light on an issue that I never thought about before. Although only one season exists, it shows us how the court system works in complete detail, along with what the victims have to go through during the trial. Having no actors in the film, along with raw footage, makes the series worth the watch.

Although legal issues are usually boring and misjudged, this series filled me with knowledge about the judicial system without losing my attention. The series starts and ends with a bang, and leaves your mind questioning what happens next.

This show creates a whole new world for people who know nothing about how the judicial system works and what lawyers actually do for their clients. However, the show seems to be more biased towards Avery, more than likely because they film the series through his perspective.
