If you haven’t heard about the Netflix series “Stranger Things” by now, you must be living under a rock. Created by up-and-coming writers, the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things has become their first major hit, with the series being renewed for a second season.

Stranger Things, a supernatural drama, consists of only eight episodes in the first season. The show’s story involves a child, played by Noah Schnapp, who goes missing in the fictional town of Hawkins Indiana, in 1983. To find him, his friends and family must confront the supernatural forces in the town to find him.

I personally don’t enjoy shows about the supernatural, so I didn’t anticipate to enjoy it. Somehow I still managed to get addicted to the show. So addicted — I watched all eight episodes in one day.  With each episode being about 55 minutes long, it allows the show to build up even more suspense and build up the characters’ personalities. The end of each episode leaves you guessing as to where the story will go, and what will happen to Will, the missing boy.

Every aspect of the show gets executed flawlessly, the cinematography, the plot and the acting. I was shocked at how amazing the acting was in the show. Winona Ryder, who plays Will’s mom, does a great job at portraying her character, playing a desperate and frantic mother who will do whatever it takes to find her son. It wasn’t just the adult actors’ performances that amazed me, but also the child actors, who portray normal, geeky middle school kids, these kids are incredible actors.

I highly recommend “Stranger Things” even if supernatural shows usually don’t appeal to you. The show doesn’t play out like most mystery shows. It shows the relationships between the characters’ families and portrays romantic relationships. If you haven’t watched Stranger Things yet, log into your Netflix account and start watching this great show.
