Starting this year, freshmen are required to use student planners to record their assignments and homework. They are designed to be helpful for students, but according to some freshmen they think otherwise.

“It’s a waste of my time. Sometimes it may remind me but I can always write stuff down somewhere else,” freshman Ty Pressley said.

According to art teacher, Mr. Mason and administrators, the goal is to help the freshman class understand responsibility and to teach organizational skills for the future grades.

“We have found out that when freshmen get to high school, they are not as organized,” Academic Principal Mrs. Englert said. “We hope they will get better organized and this skill moves with them to the tenth grade.”
