MISD will hold a College and Career night on Wednesday, Dec. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m at Legacy High School. MISD counselors and teachers strongly encourage students and parents to attend the event. Over 120 colleges, tech schools and all four branches of the military will have booths set up throughout the cafeteria. Students will have a chance to speak with the representatives of colleges from all over the nation, and ask about admission prices, grade requirements and other information.
Three seminars will take place including a Financial Aid Seminar in the Performing Arts Center, an ACT/SAT seminar in the library and UTA Transitions program information will be given out in the Distance Learning Lab.
Counselors will hand out worksheets with sample questions for College Admissions Officers during English III and IV classes. Head Counselor Mendy Gregory believes attending College Night will benefit students greatly.
“It gives them an opportunity to see what the colleges are like and what kind of requirements they have,” Gregory said.
