After working on the fall theater production for about eight weeks, “Suite Surrender” will be available for public viewing from Oct. 13-16 at 7 p.m. and once on Oct. 8 at 2 p.m. in the Legacy Performing Arts Center.

Scheduled to perform at a 1940s war benefit, two divas with a mutual hatred accidentally get booked to have the same hotel room. Throughout the play, the diva’s assistants and hotel staff try to keep the secret from the divas finding out. Senior Bailey Griffin plays diva Everette P. Osgood.

“My favorite part about the show is just getting to have fun with my character,” Griffin said. “She’s a little crazy, so it’s amazing to have directors who let you shape your own character and bring everything you can to the show.”

Theater Arts teacher Jeremy Ferman decided on the play back in August, and for the first time, the performance will feature a living dog named Austin as one of the diva’s pets.

“People should come see it because it’s really funny,” Griffin said. “No matter what your sense of humor, you’ll definitely be laughing.”

Actually, this is the third time we have had a puppy on stage. The first was our very first production ever, The Matchmaker in 2007 and the second was in A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 2008. In both shows it was a toy poodle named Monster owned by former Legacy Theatre director Melanie McIntyre.
