On Feb. 5, choir officers will host the Legacy Legend show in the Legacy Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30. Tickets go on sale on Jan. 26 to Feb. 4 which can be purchased through the choir department for five dollars in advance or seven dollars at the door.

The first place winning contestant will receive $100 cash and the winning title for a year, second place, $75 and third will receive $50. Money collected from the purchased tickets goes toward the Choir banquet in April at the Country Club.

Last year’s Legacy Legends winner, junior Marcus Robinson, will sing solos during the show.
Choir Director Mrs. Owens believes putting the choir officers in charge of the show will teach them responsibility.

The singing contestants who wants more practice on their own will have their opportunities.

“They have to do their practice on their own, but on the day of the show at 5, they can run through their song with a microphone,” Mrs. Owens said.

The master of ceremonies sign ups for Legacy Legends starts on Jan. 24 and auditions will take place on Jan. 27 and 28.

“I’m anxious to see who the emcee is,” Mrs.Owens said. “I want someone that will not let me have a dead stage. They have to have creativity.”

Mrs. Owens has a positive outlook about the upcoming show.

“I trust my kids. My goal as an elective teacher is to have my students be able to do things without me there,” Mrs. Owen said. “I am just proud of my kids.”
