Art Teacher Jessica Louviere Dies

Art Teacher Jessica Louviere Dies

[UPDATED 6/25/14]

Legacy High School will host a Balloon Memorial Release on Friday, June 27 at 7:00 p.m. All members of the community are invited to join as we celebrate Ms. Louviere’s contributions to the school and our lives.

Donations may be made to an educational fund for Ms. Louviere’s sons Landon and Sam here.

[Posted 6/22/14]

A beloved member of the Legacy Art staff died on June 20. Jessica Louviere taught Art 1, Art 2, Pre-AP Art 2, Art 3 and Partners In Art at Legacy. The family will be holding a private memorial service.

Ms. Louviere, known for her love of family, Mexican food, and the Texas Rangers will be remembered for her teaching abilities and kind spirit.

Art teacher David Mason believes that her class was worth much more than a half credit per semester.

“Whether or not you learned about art, more than likely you learned about life,” Mr. Mason said.

Students, staff and friends of Ms. Louviere are invited to share memories in the comments below and/or email us photos of art pieces ([email protected]) in memoriam of her passing and to show appreciation for all that she taught. All comments will be shared with her family.

“I’d like for it to be a celebration,” Mr. Mason said. “I want to remember the good things and the fun we had.”

As one our neighbors down the fine arts wing, our hearts are heavy as we mourn a teacher, colleague and friend. Louviere will be missed.

Mrs. Louviere was always the kind of teacher that you could talk to about anything. She was kind, and she cared about her students. She had a lovely spirit, and she taught me more about life and people than any other class I’ve had.

    Dear Landon & Sam,

I’m so very sorry for your loss. I know your mother loved you very much and was proud of what sweet boys you are. Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to help you and your family this summer.

    Sincerely and with love,

    Ms. Rea

Mrs. Louviere was one of the best teachers I ever had throughout my High School years, I attended her Art class during my sophomore year at Summit High School (2005) and I just remember how she would push me to be a better artist and commended all the work I did, and although I took my time, I wanted my projects to be perfect for her and she would even let me turn in my work late without taking points off, she wouldn’t let me give up on a project, she was an amazing person, not just teacher, and she will be missed

Jessica Louviere was my friend, colleague and work-spouse for over 13 years. When I was asked to open Legacy in 2007 I was told I could bring another art teacher with me and without blinking an eye I picked Jessica. She is like the sister I never had and my love for her and her family were second to none. She never knew how far her love and support for her students traveled and I’m sure she is looking down upon us with a great big smile. I love and miss you Jessica….

Mrs. Louviere taught me that you are always responsible for the actions you decide to take. She taught me to do what you love in life. Easily one of the most influential teachers I had through high school. Thoughts are with her family and friends.

Man, mrs. Louviere was the best. She was always so kind and cared for everyone. I went through something my senior year and she noticed I wasn’t being myself. She was one of the few I told about my situation and was there for me and supportive. She was always motivating me and spoke to my heart all the time. I got a lot of encouragement from her. Words can not describe the care I have for her and how my heart aches over this. But I know she is in a better place and will try to celebrate all the amazing memories I had with her, as well as the time she got to have here while impacting so many lives on a daily basis. I love you sweet friend, and will keep your family in my heart.

I remember the second semester when I went to her class for the first time for my community service project for AVID…. The more I went the more she felt like a normal teacher and the more partners in art felt like a normal class. Even though I never had mrs louviere personally it was nice to have her to help when I did community service even if it didn’t last long. I wish that I would just hug her and tell her thank you for helping me become the person that I am.

Im gonna miss you mrs.louviere your the best art teacher I had. You helped me complete an art project I didn’t think I could complete. You motivated me through alot. You’ve taught me a lot about art. I was in your class room with you the last day of school the whole time I was there you gave me great advice. You made me smile all the time. Im glad I met you thank you for being there. Rest in peace

I never comment on anything here but I should pay my respects. Honestly, I was just about to give up on art last summer, I was about to drop the class before even entering the room. Now I’ve become another person through the thing that people have told me I should give up on. Sorry I’ve almost never completed any of my drawings, nor have I said thank you enough for all that you’d think is only teaching, but to me is giving hope to live one more day, to put that razorblade down and instead pick up a paintbrush. So people might not understand what I say at times, but that’s not even relevant to the degree in which no words were needed. Thank you for showing me a way to smile again. R.I.P.

for one she was shorter then me and I always had found that funny, but then I was always in her class. When I had finished class work, I would go to her and talk. She was so funny. She always had a good story to tell and amazing advice. She always helped me when I was crying, when I was happy, when I needed her. Even on a few times, she stayed to help me with projects because I procrastinated. She always made me challenge myself in art because she knew I could do better…. She was truly amazing and an amazing mom to her two sons and the 200 of us students that needed her. She was just an amazing person. I’ll miss you.

I will never forget all the things we would talk about. Like how weird people are when they are on social media, religion, what makes something art, and tones of other things. She was the most welcoming person in all of legacy and I believe her love of teaching and love for others will always live on through her students, friends, and family. I already miss you. Legacy will not be the same with out you….

Mrs. Louviere was one of the best art teachers there, she was such an inspiration and the smile that she had on her face made me smile. I’m going to miss her so much because she mean’t a lot to me, she will forever be in my heart and my mind, I loved her and she helped me out a lot in art. Her family and friends will definitely be in my prayers. I will always remember her.

I had Louviere in 2008 and was my favorite teacher. She made art class fun and made it feel more like a family then a class. She will be missed greatly but always loved by the people who knew her.

She was great with our kids and their partners. Questions were always answered and care was given to even the smallest project or artwork for any other student that happened to need help. She was a sweet soul with a caring attitude and “love life” demeanor.

She was the chilliest person I ever met, she didn’t give a darn what anyone thought of her and I truly admired her for that. I wish she had told us before we left( at least the students she knew loved her) the illness that was slowly taking her, and thinking back on it, these past years with her absences throughout the semester should have told us something. I wish we could have done more for her ~ actually do a project; talk to her more; make her laugh when she looked down. But she will always have a place in our hearts, and the life lessons she taught us will help us grow and move on with our lives.

    Mrs. Louviere..
She was an amazing person, lighthearted and always had me laughing. She pushed me hard in my first year of art and if it wasn’t her I wouldn’t have found out my true talent was drawing/sketching. The time I spent with her will be unforgettable♡

This woman changed what art meant for me. She changed what school meant for me. Her spirit reverberated in everything she did. And she was one of my favorite people in the whole wide world.

Mrs. Louviere was like an aunt to me. I remember when she let my friend Ali bring her Great Dane into class and her chihuahua. I would always grab her phone and take selfies with it. She was always laid back. I always went to her with all my life problems and she would just sit and listen and then give me advice. She was hands down the best teacher I’ve ever had. She put up with me for 2 years and I am forever greatful to her for it and greatful I had the chance to have her class 2 years in a row. I will never forget her. It’s gonna be very hard to walk past the art hallway my senior year.

Mrs. Louviere not only taught me more about art and how to pursue something I love, she also taught me about life and showing love to everyone I encounter. You will be missed dearly but your life lessons will continue to live on through the hearts of your students and colleagues.

Mrs. Louviere was my favorite teacher. I looked forward to her class every single day. I may have driven her insane half the time, but it was out of love. Her class was an escape from the every day challenges that I faced. I left with her two of my art projects on the last day of school. I wish I said more to her before I left her class. She inspired me to expand my skills and try new things. Thank you so much, Mrs. Louviere, you will be greatly missed. Thank you for accepting me when no one else would. We all love you.

She was my twin down the hall and my friend. This is an unexpected tragedy and unfortunate loss for the students. I will keep her and my memories of the art hall close to me for many years to come.

Jessica had a kind gentle spirit that would warm anybody’s heart. Her smile brightened a room and I know that her students not only thought of her as their teacher but as a friend . She will be dearly missed by her Legacy family.

I am so sorry to hear of Jessica’s passing. She is truly a wonderous spirit that will live on in all the hearts of those she knew and loved. Her soul was full of beauty that originated beyond this Earth. She was heavenly in nature and a true inspiration to me, since we first met in high school! I pray for you, her family, that you may always feel her presence with you because her spirit will live on in you!
    God Bless!
Much love to Jessica today and always!
