Junior Joey Leavell sighed as he left the testing room. His AP test was finally over.

“It was a feeling of relief.” Leavell said. “I don’t have to spend time studying or worrying about the class.”

All throughout the first two weeks of May, students from every grade will funnel into the JV gym to take AP tests. These tests are a cumulative assessment of all material covered in the class. Their score decides whether or not they get college credit.

In order to celebrate these students achievements and reward the students’ hard work, Legacy will be hosting its first AP field day on Friday, May 13. All AP students who took an AP test will be released from their classes starting from sixth block to go to the practice field to enjoy the sun and games.

AP World History teacher Mrs. Jeri Bordelon brought the idea up to the administration. She had the idea from a past event of hers, the AP Olympics.

“My students always had the AP Olympics after the test where we all go compete for medals,” Mrs. Bordelon said. “So the teacher PLC decided we should reward all [AP] students with a field day.”

They hope the event will give students a day to relax and celebrate their accomplishments.

“[It] gives AP students a chance to celebrate the stress of the test being over and rewards students with time out of class,” Mrs. Bordelon said.
