The ringing of cowbells on decorated mums and garters will soon fill the halls of Legacy. Homecoming festivities will take place today.

Student Council members chose “Game On” as our homecoming theme this year. Dress up days such as pajama day, class colors day and twin day have been planned to encourage school spirit.

“I like dressing up during spirit days,” senior Haleigh Carr said.

A shortened period schedule will be implemented on Friday to make time for the pep rally ninth period full of games, a Silver Spur performance and an introduction of the homecoming court.

“I’m so excited to perform with the rest of the Silver Spurs,” Silver Spur Mia Williams said. “It’s our first pep rally performance of the year so it’ll be fun.”

Students have already engaged in homecoming festivities by asking each other to the game in creative ways. Junior Corrine Maddox asked senior Hannah Roe and created a mum for her as a way for her to make her senior year memorable.

“I’ve looked at [the mum] every single day and just excited myself because I’m excited to give it to her,” Maddox said. “I’m so excited for her to be excited.”

The homecoming game will start at 7 p.m. at Vernon Newsom Stadium against Aledo High School.
