The $1.8 million cost of the Dr Pepper StarCenter to Mansfield ISD was enough to scare taxpayers into encouraging the school district to reconsider their approval of the ice rink. It scared the staff at The Rider Online too and had us thinking, what else could $1.8 million buy for Mansfield ISD?

The now nullified agreement asked Mansfield ISD to contribute $500,000 up front as well as an additional $1.3 million over five years for the rights to use the facility. For simplicity’s sake we will analyze what the combined total of $1.8 million could purchase for the district.
