The buzzing sound of a tattoo gun piercing through human flesh takes place every day for senior Bryce Robbins.

Robbins interns at Just Tattoos and works on the side at Double Dave’s Pizza because he needs the money.

“Tattoos are a way to express oneself in ink that might have had a story behind it that many don’t understand,” Robbins said.

At the tattoo shop he goes through an everyday routine of cleaning, sketching, and practicing.

“I have to get my tattoo license before I can actually give someone a tattoo because the people I work for don’t want to get in trouble for letting me illegally practice,” Robbins said.

He has been working there for the past four months and hopes to eventually get his license.  His favorite kinds of tattoos are the glow in the dark ones.

“I like the glow in the dark ones best because they can really only be seen in black light,” Robbins said. “But they are all pretty simple to do.”

Bryce already has a few tattoos of his own and plans on getting more in the future. Texas law requires individuals to be 18 years of age in order to receive tattoos.

“I don’t think it is the parents’ choice to decide whether or not we should be allowed to decorate our skin,” Robbins said. “After all it is our body, so we should have the final say.”
