Sophomore Cameron Clark listens to the dull roar of the crowd as the buzzer on the scoreboard rings, ending another Thursday night football game and another win adding on to their perfect season. He joins his teammates in a circle after shaking the hands of his opponents. Clark looks at all of the tired, smiling faces of his teammates. Among them stands his twin brother, freshmen Caden Clark.
“It’s great having a brother playing with you,” Cameron said. “There’s someone always there with you all the way through the season.”
Cameron started playing football, baseball and basketball with his brother at the age of five. He serves as a quarterback for Legacy’s freshmen football team. His brother, Caden, plays as a defensive tackle for the football team as well. Cameron said playing together has an positive effect on their relationship.
“Our relationship has become very close because of sports,” Cameron said. “We have been through some tough times in games to where we argue. At the end of the day, we’re brothers, and we care for each other. Just having fun on the field keeps a good relationship between us.”
Cameron believes one of the best things about playing with a sibling has to be having someone to always push you to be your best. Cameron and Caden hold each other accountable for the quality of the work that they produce on the field.
“We always push each other on and off the field,” Cameron said. “When I see him slacking, I’m always on him to make sure he goes 100 percent, and he does the same for me.”
Despite the fact they enjoy the same sports and participate in similar things, Cameron and Caden appear to be very different people. Cameron believes the biggest distinction would be their personalities and how they interact with others.
“[We] have different personalities,” Cameron said. “Caden is really laid back, quiet and shy [while] I’m always energetic and ready to go.”
Although sometimes it can be rough, Cameron thinks that benefits come from having a sibling that plays with him. He said that his brother has always been there to encourage him when he needs it.
“As brothers we expect the most out of each other, and we want to push each other to our limits because we love and care for each other,” Cameron said. “We want them to show out as best as they can.”
