6 Things to do During Spring

Now that spring has begun, students are beginning to leave the house in search of something to do in order to waste time until summer.

NASCAR:

The DUCK COMMANDER 500 will be hosted at Texas Motor Speedway on April 6. The deafening sound of the engines and the constant vibration throughout the speedway is an experience that can’t be mimicked anywhere else.

Ranger game:

Popcorn. Cracker Jack’s. Fireworks. The Rangers’ just had their opening day on March 31st.

Scarborough Renaissance Festival:

Turkey legs, Renaissance themed shows and jousting, line the 35 acre village. A little on the nerdy side, but fun nonetheless. The festival opens April 5 – May 26, 2014. It contains plenty of shows, food and fun.

Paintball:

Paintball can be played year round, so why not play in the spring? Plus, Mansfield now has a paintball park right down 11-87. (Mansfield Paintball)

Concerts:

Artists ranging from Ellie Goulding to Chevelle have concerts coming to the DFW area. A quick look around at venues guarantees to spark an interest for anyone’s tastes for the warm season ahead. A few big names include Bastille, Cage the Elephant, Grouplove and others (Edgefest 24 on April 26), Foster the People (April 29), Billy Currington and Lady Antebellum (May 8) and Steve Miller Band and Journey (May 25). Upcoming concerts in the DFW area can be found on vividseats.com.

Six Flags:

Finally, the one we’ll all end up doing anyway: traveling to Arlington, riding the Titan and regretting getting soaked on the log ride. Six Flags has been open every weekend since March 29, and will officially be open weekdays starting May 14.

Hey everyone, my name is Mason and I'm excited to be joining the newspaper team this year. I'll start by saying band is life. On top of being in Journalism, I am also the band president for this year. I play on the drumline and I've been in band for 6 years. I have five dogs named Cowboy, Witten, Chico, Trigger, and Cowboy. Yes, you read that right. I have two dogs named Cowboy. Weird, eh? I am also a huge sports fan, but I only support our local teams like the Stars, Cowboys, Rangers, etc. However, I have yet to jump on the soccer bandwaggon. My favorite word is tintinnabulation. I have an undying obsession with Dr. Pepper and original Pringles. [email protected]
