Identifying New Fashion

Be the first to wear these trendy ID tricks.

Disclaimer: This article is satire. You must still follow the rules and wear your ID around your neck every day (see “The Classic”).

With the new ID rules put in place, you might be looking for some new ideas for when it comes to wearing that boring lanyard and ID card combo. Try a few other ways to jazz up your everyday identification routine.

1. “The Classic”

This great for anyone that doesn’t like going to Saturday School or AC. As an added bonus, it displays your beautiful face front and center so that everyone will know your identity.

2. “The Handbag”

While this look doesn’t actually function as a bag, the style factor shoots through the roof. Who needs a Michael Kors purse when you have your ID?

3. “The Headband”

This works for the hippies among us that enjoy wearing flower crowns and various items on their heads. What a great way to hide your forehead if you are self-conscious about it.

4. “The 90’s Choker”

This daring statement was created especially for those who wish they were a teenager circa 1995. A definite nod to the grunge era.

5. “The Ankle Bracelet”

For the fashion conscious that enjoy wearing bracelets on their feet. While the “anklet” might have been cool when you were 10, this updated look will surely bring that trend back to life.

6. “The Backwards Classic” (for the rebellious rule followers)

Basically, you guessed it, The Classic but backwards. Now everyone walking behind you will know your identity too.

7. “The Belt”

Whether you need to keep your pants up or add some definition to the waist, this option will hold up beautifully.

8. “The Beard”

Ideal for those who have trouble growing facial hair.

9. “The Earring”

It’s true what they say, the eighties have returned. Try out the one earring trend by wrapping the lanyard around your ear.

10. “The Invisible”

Only you know you have it on (just a lanyard, no ID).

11. “The Nervous Breakdown”

Great look for when you have that scary English presentation. The ID card goes in your mouth so that you can chew it for comfort.

12. “The Helicopter”

This one adds some action for sure. Hold it in one hand and spin it in the other.

13. “Hot Pocket”

ID goes in pocket, lanyard hangs down. It’s a really cool statement to have a string hanging out of your pocket.

14. “Fake ID”

Using a friend’s ID, a gift card, or even a piece of white paper will do the trick. It will pass as an ID if you walk fast.

15. “Look Ma, No Lanyard!”

You can use a clip or other device to attach it to yourself. Almost as much of an adrenaline rush as riding a bike with no hands.

Hi I'm Becca! I love Tex Mex and my dog above all else. I'm a senior this year and I really really really want to go to UT Austin but if I don't get in pretend like I didn't say that. I procrastinate everything and I'm still super pale. I hope you enjoy the stories I write this year!
