Underdog team, New York Giants pull through with a sack on Tom Brady during Super Bowl XLII.

Since 1920, the NFL stands as the most known football league in the nation. In 50 years of the league, there has only been 48 super bowls. Here are 10 games that have stood out the most in those 48 games.

Super Bowl XLIV
Saints, 31
Colts, 17
It was the year of hurricane Katrina. The New Orleans Saints won the super bowl to not only give New Orleans there first title win but to give the town of New Orleans a sense of accomplishment in their time of need.

Super Bowl XXXVIII
Patriots, 32
Panthers, 29
In spite of the “snoozefest” and lack of point in the first three quarters, the teams totaled an NFL record 37 points in the fourth quarter. Adam Vinatieri ended the game with his second Super Bowl winning field goal.

Super Bowl III
Jets, 16
Colts, 7
Substantial because despite the massive double digit underdog prediction, the jets came away with the stunning Super Bowl win.

Super Bowl XIII
Steelers, 35
Cowboys, 31
Both NFL legends Terry Bradshaw and Roger Staubach competed in the super bowl. The final score came down to a dropped touchdown pass by Hall-of-fame Tight end Jackie Smith.

Super Bowl XXIII
49ers, 20
Bengals, 16
Joe Montana drove 92 yards and scored the game winning touchdown with eight seconds left on the game clock.

Super Bowl XLII
Steelers, 27
Cardinals, 23
The 10-0 lead at halftime for the Steelers. This 10-0 lead included a 100 yard Super Bowl record defensive touchdown, but that did not affect the cardinals, who almost made the biggest comeback in NFL Super Bowl History. But then the Steelers put together what was called the ultimate drive between Big Ben and Antonio Holmes which gave the steelers the Super Bowl XLII win.

Super Bowl XXV
Giants, 20
Buffalo, 19
Substantial win for the New York Giants. This is because little to nobody gave the Giants a chance to stop the high octane offense of the bills with Jim Kelly and Thurman Thomas in the backfield. But defensive coordinator Bill Belichick changed his entire defensive plan to stop the very high powered offense. But it all came down to the missed field goal by Scott Norwood which went wide right.

Super Bowl XXXIV
Rams, 23
Titans, 16
Super Bowl 34 was one to remember when Quarterback Kurt Warner built a 16-0 lead on the titans. This was quickly tied by two astonishing drives from quarterback Steve Mcnair. But Kurt Warner didn’t let the momentum phase him when he threw a 73 yard touchdown to Isaac Bruce. But Steve Mcnair took one last prayer shot down the field which was caught. But Mcnair was let down to find out that his receiver was stopped on the one yard line.

Super Bowl XXXVI
Patriots, 20
Rams, 17
Backup quarterback Thomas Brady came into the Super Bowl to play when starting quarterback Drew Bledsoe received an injury in the previous game against the Oakland Raiders. Brady came out strong giving the Patriots a 17-3 lead at half. Quarterback Kurt Warner then tied the game 17-17. But Brady drove down the field to get his kicker Adam Vinatieri into field goal range to win the game 20-17.

Super Bowl XLII
Giants, 17
Patriots, 14
The number one Super Bowl in the history of the NFL was Super Bowl 42. The New England Patriots were destined to have a historical 19-0 season. As fans waited for the giants to break down it never happened. it was 10-7 when Tom Brady connected with Randy Moss for the go-ahead lead. But Eli Manning rewrote history when he found Plaxico Burress in the endzone for the wild touchdown in the final minute of Super Bowl 42.
