Because he lives in a military family, sophomore Jaeden Evens travels

Sophomore Jaeden Evans watches attentively as his teacher stands in front of the class explaining the difference between quantitative and qualitative properties. It may only be his second week at Legacy, but he is already beginning to get used to it.

Evans is a member of a military family, so he often moves schools and homes. He has lived in a total of seven different places in his life, but even after all the moving, he still has some difficulty when going to new place.

“At first, you kinda don’t like [the new school] because you get used to the other place,” Evans said. “It normally takes maybe a month or so to start liking the new place.”

Even though he isn’t always happy moving to new schools, after years of moving around to different schools, Evans has got the art of friend-making mastered, and he always does his best to become friends with his classmates.

“As long as they’re loud, it’s easy for me to make friends with them.” Evans said. “But there’s a couple people that it’s hard for me to make friends with because they just won’t talk even if I talk to them first.”

Before making new friends was the task at hand, though, there was another issue that was addressed. A few months after his mother, sister and him had moved down, they received news that his dad, instead of being stationed in Dallas, would go to Baltimore. Despite this, he and his mother have decided they will be staying here for him to finish high school.

“We like Dallas more than all the other places we’ve been. The town that we lived in in Chicago was a little quiet and boring. Just getting back to Dallas and having all this traffic and places to go is more fun. ” Evans said. “We picked the place we want to settle down.”
