Senior Lisa Hart heads to after school open field practice. When she gets there, she works on her hitting and throwing to prepare for the upcoming softball tryouts. Hart’s final year of tryouts went as planned by making the varsity team.

“I’ve been with softball throughout all of high school,” Hart said. “I’ve definitely developed an emotional attachment to it.”

She enjoys hitting and catching fly balls. Hart said that this upcoming year they will basically have the same team, with a few new freshman additions.

“With all the strength and conditioning stuff going on right now, we’ve all gotten really stronger and faster,” Hart said.

Along with Hart, senior Ta’Lyn Moody tried out for softball this year. Moody plays center field and has played softball for around nine years. Moody’s hopes this season are for the team to go to the state championship.

“My favorite thing about softball includes the atmosphere and the whole preparation of getting ready to play,” Moody said. “I expect us to go to state because we’re pretty great.”

To train, Moody works out, goes to the cages and makes sure she’s comfortable on the field. Moody also works on certain techniques when it comes to hitting, bunting and fielding the ball.

“I’m not only representing myself, I’m representing the school,” Moody said. “I just plan to give it my all.”
