In the beginning of the season, varsity boys’ basketball defeated Ennis and Red Oak High School establishing their 2-0 record in the first half of district. Seniors Tanner Neufeldt and Vydal Bradford hope to conclude the season on a positive note.

“The main focus in the beginning of the season was to push my team to be on the same page, so we could make the playoffs,” Bradford said.

After six straight district games, they turned the losing streak around after beating Ennis at home 43-37. Their spot in making the playoffs was eliminated after a loss to Red Oak High School 35-43.

“At this point, the main goal is to have fun,” Neufeldt said. “It wasn’t what we thought, but I had fun so far.”

With Bradford and Neufeldt being two of the nine seniors leaving the team after the 2015-2016 season, they can recall internal struggles that set the team back.

“Next year’s team needs to work on their offense,” Neufeldt said. “We’re all about defense, but we need to score.”

Individualism appeared to be one of those internal struggles that the team faced as well.

“Individualism was one of the struggles,” Bradford said. “There were too many I’s on one team.”

The varsity boys’ basketball district record currently sits at 3-12, as they hope for a positive ending to the season.

“I hope we can play as a team and finish the season strong,” Bradford said.
