Rose Watch: Week Two

The Bachelors 21st season airs on ABC every Monday at 8/7c
The Bachelor’s 21st season airs on ABC every Monday at 8/7c

[WARNING: SPOILERS FOR LAST MONDAY’S EPISODE OF THE BACHELOR]

Here’s the first week of Rose Watch in case you missed it

Welcome again to another exciting week of ABC’s The Bachelor. Were you entertained? We were.

After a week of introductions, white wine and limo entrances, we’re treated to yet another “dramatic” episode, sandwiched in between terrible dates.

THE DATES

  • The first group date of the season starts in true Bachelor fashion: being as awkward and uncomfortable as possible. Twelve women, almost half the contestants, spent the date doing a photoshoot with Nick. Some of the girls had a semi-normal photoshoot, like one that was wedding themed. But as the date went on, the tableaus became much, much worse. Alexis had to pretend to be pregnant, Brittany and Nick had an Adam and Eve theme (including wearing little to no clothes) and Corinne and Nick had a beach theme, which led to a very uncomfortable end. Ultimately, the photographer during this date had to pick a woman to “win” this very non-competitive contest, and Corinne’s outlandishness propelled her to victory (not to mention, it propelled her a few places higher in the all-time Bachelor villains list).
  • The second group date involved the women going to the Museum of Broken Relationships. This was also a pointless and awkward group date. Each girl had to break up with Nick in front of an audience. Most of the break-ups were boring and not memorable, except Josephine’s and Liz’s break-ups. Josephine slapped Nick in a very dramatic scene, that looked straight out of a movie. Liz broke up with Nick by telling all the women about her and Nick’s past history. You could tell Nick was extremely uncomfortable by this. This didn’t work out in Liz’s favor. Nick gave Liz the boot, saying he thought it was best if she went home. I gained more respect for Nick after he sent Liz home, maybe he’s serious about this after all.
  • This week’s solo date was for Danielle M. as they had the most predictable and reliable date on the show: a helicopter ride. Helicopter rides are a given at this point, so there was no surprise seeing it this early in the season. After they landed on a yacht (also not surprising), the two had dinner as Danielle told her backstory to Nick. She tells him about how her last relationship ended because her fiance died of an overdose without her knowing of his addiction. The story’s really heartbreaking, and you can tell the two bonded over the date. This one-on-one date was definitely one of the most tolerable moments of the episode.

Finally, the time has come for the BACHELOR POWER RANKINGS, where we can rank each contestant. To rank high on our list, you have to be a mix of entertaining, funny, genuine and you have to actually seem like you might have a chance at winning Nick’s love. Since it’s only the second week, we still don’t know the story of all the women yet, so we’ll only be fleshing out the top five for now.

POWER RANKINGS

#1. DANIELLE M.
At this point, Danielle M. will be in it for the long haul, having the first one-on-one date, and by far the best date of the night. After telling Nick the tragic story of her past relationship, the two already have the best connection of anyone on the show so far.

#2. CORINNE
If you watched this week’s episode, you know Corinne won’t be a frontrunner to win, but she already has been the most entertaining of anyone on the show. It seems as if she was born with the gift of saying the worst things a human could say in any conversation. Not to mention, she was able to interrupt THREE different conversations Nick was having with other women.

#3  TAYLOR
Taylor had been overshadowed in week one. This episode she was given more air time and more time with Nick. In the group date, I thought she had the best chemistry with Nick, even though Corrine got the group date rose.

#4. VANESSA
Vanessa has been a frontrunner since night one. She went on a group date with Nick on the last episode. While she didn’t get the group date rose or much airtime, I still believe she is a strong contender for the weeks to come.

#5. RACHEL
Even though she was on the episode for a whopping five minutes, she didn’t do anything to make anyone mad. Hopefully we’ll see more of her next week and we probably will considering she got the first impression rose last week.

#6. SARAH

#7. ALEXIS

#8. CHRISTEN

#9. BRITTANY

#10. JOSEPHINE

#11. DANIELLE L.

#12. RAVEN

#13. WHITNEY

#14. ASTRID

#15. JAIMI

Will the girls gang up on Corinne and tell Nick about her actions? What will happen at the rose ceremony? What exotic location will they go to next? Find out next week on ROSE WATCH.
