Top 10 Reasons to Look Forward to Summer

Finally, after what seemed like ten million days of school, it’s summer vacation and we all get two and a half months off of school to do whatever we want. For me, that means sleeping until noon and lounging around by the pool. It’s hard to attend school with only a few weeks left, but just keep in mind how close we are and how great summer will be. Here are some things to look forward to:

No Tardy Bell

No more waking up at 6:00 am. No more rushing to get your breakfast down or to find your other shoe that has somehow found an elaborate hiding place. You can sleep for however long you want and take your time getting ready for the day. Also, you don’t have to shamefully walk to get a late pass.

No Dress Code

It doesn’t matter if you wear shorts five inches above your knee cap, a tank top, or a ball cap. You don’t have to follow the student handbook so you can throw your ID into the ocean. Texas has extremely hot summers, therefore people want to wear as little clothing as possible to stay cool.

Food Galore

No more hiding your food and drinks from the APs and Teachers – and you don’t have to wait for lunch to eat either. You can eat whenever you feel the slightest bit hungry and you won’t have to worry about sneaking off campus for lunch.

No Class

No more asking to use the bathroom or get a drink, sitting through a long lecture, or trying to get comfortable on the hard blue plastic chairs. Lets face it, everyone has at least one teacher they will be happy to have a break from.

A Break From Your Fellow Classmates

It can get tiresome being around the same people day after day. Especially if you aren’t particularly fond of some of your peers. By the end of the year, some people just need breaks from each other.

Trips

Sometimes after a long school year people need to just get out of Mansfield and relax. Summer vacations are wonderful because you don’t have to worry about being out too late or getting back for school on Monday.

Netflix

To be honest I have wasted too much time watching Netflix. It’s surprising how many shows and movies they have. I am currently addicted to Gossip Girl. Summer is the perfect time to watch netflix you have no homework to procrastinate on.

Swimming

It’s hard not to get excited about swimming. In the past, I have spent most of my summer days in the pool and playing sports. The pool is awesome to be in, even if you are alone.

No Passing Periods

No more moving every forty-five minutes. You can become a couch potato again. Also you don’t have rush to go to the bathroom, walk across the school, and talk to your friends in a five minute window.

No Homework

Having eight classes a day is stressful enough and to add homework into the mix makes it even worse. Sometimes homework can take hours to complete. The summer is a great way to let go of the stress built up throughout the year. It’s a great time to try something new and have fun.
