Purple shirts and colorful wristbands fill the Legacy soccer practice fields as students pile into the field day hosted by Student Council. The field day took place on the last day of Project C.A.R.E, and a large amount of students participated in this fundraiser event.

Sponsors Kenna Cavnar and Danielle Panzarella ran and moderated the event, along with student council officers and members.

“We wanted to raise money on all types of cancer instead of just breast cancer, and a field day to bring everyone together for fun,” Ms. Panzarella said.

The former empty field hosted inflatable bounce houses and courses, sport games, food trucks and student games for the field day. Student council members helped to guide and facilitate each section of the field, and provide an enjoyable environment.

“We are doing this instead of what we do for Pink Fest, we are also hoping to use purple to symbolize all cancers and increase awareness,” Ms. Cavnar said.

Laughs and cheers filtered the air as students participated in activities and enjoyed the fun in the sun. Students ran, jumped, ate and talked enjoying their time at the fundraising event.

“I think we are really trying to raise school spirit for CARE. I think getting everyone together for one cause is really inspiring,” senior Madelyn Walker said.

The warm sun and cool breezes created the perfect weather to come together and support a shared cause.

“I think it’s fun having everyone come together for fun and supporting a shared cause,” senior Dorcas Abiara said.

Not a dull moment occurred with the large turn out, students energized the field day with school spirit and activities to engage everyone.

“It’s pretty fun and I’m glad we had such a great turn out. I would for sure love to have this again next year,” junior Mckenzie Farmer said.

I love sports. I play football for the school, and play summer club baseball. I am also involved at Creekwood Church, so if I'm not at school or practice I'm most likely there.
